Photographs by Tom Drury
This is the most impressive example I have found of the style in which varying degrees of the inventory are painted on the wall of the building. Elsewhere on this wall are paintings of cameras, film, Advil, Clear Eyes, cowboy boots, and an electric can opener. This is at Pico and Mariposa and it’s well worth seeing in person.
Ah… my favorite is on a grocery store on Beverly Blvd just west of Vermont. They sell guinea pigs for food and have a really cute “Chip and Dale” kind of painted on the side of their building. Right next to the steaks and sausages. Who says LA isn’t a food town?
