Meanwhile, in the actual world of pirates, the International Maritime Bureau’s monitoring center in Kuala Lumpur reports that there were 85 attacks on ships in the 2nd quarter of 2007, up from 66 in the same period a year ago. “Somalia and Nigeria remain very dangerous, high-risk areas with large numbers of violent kidnappings and hostage takings,” said maritime bureau director Pottengal Mukundan.
